Use Your Imagination When Creating A Toddler Room
Many changes occur when your child goes from baby stage to toddler. It’s a fun as well as challenging time for the entire family. Your toddler will be moving into a more grown up setting which means leaving the safety of a crib. If you enjoy decorating and are handy with craft projects, now is the time to create that special toddler room for your little one.
Unfinished wood furniture is a modern and creative choice for toddler and children’s furniture. Imagine the options! Besides saving you money, the creative options are endless; a toddler bed painted in ocean blue with tropical fish painted in bright colors on the head and foot board, a matching toy chest painted with seahorses. Or, a pale pink toddler bed painted with multi-colored abstract animals or cute hot air balloons.
Tests have shown that children love bright colors because they are fun and energizing. Red, blue and yellow are a great non-gender color scheme for toddlers as well. It is also practical if you are expecting to have more children down the line – neutral colors can be used with either sex – simply change the toddler bedding to suit the child and add a few of the toddler’s personal items such as toys or decorations to give the room a different feel.
Unfinished furniture gives you the opportunity to create something special and customize your toddler’s room. If you don’t like the idea of painting the furniture yourself, have a professional do it for you. Stains are easy and quick to apply yourself and you don’t have to be an artist to paint on furniture. Hardware stores sell stencils that can be used as patterns to paint on dressers, beds, toy chests, and small chairs. Remember, whatever paint or finish you decide on, it should be 100% lead and toxic free.
After the crib and cradle bedding are stored away, your toddler will be enjoying the new and exciting environment lovingly created by mom and dad. The new freedom may take some getting used to, but the confining safety of the nursery will never be missed.
